Elfyn Evans starts Arctic Rally Finland on Friday chasing the chance to become the FIA World Rally Championship’s first back-to-back winter event winner since team-mate Sébastien Ogier in 2016. Evans dominated last year’s Rally Sweden, leading from start to finish. “You start every rally looking for the best possible result,” said the Toyota Gazoo Racing driver, “and that’s certainly the case when you’re coming to a [type of] rally where you had a good result the year before. “It was quite tricky at times with the conditions [last year] but this week should be more straightforward. “It’s difficult to make a direct comparison with the tyres – we tested the Pirelli in very different, much colder conditions to what we saw in Sweden last year.”.
