Eliason Still Strong In Australia

American visitor Cory Eliason is poised to claim the Western Australian Speedweek title after dominant performances in rounds five and six of the series. Courtney was eighth, one place ahead of Zearfoss (Goldstar Transport). Eliason qualified fastest with a 15.224-second run around the 560-yard oval, ahead of James Inglis with 15.330 seconds, Courtney with 15.341 seconds and Zearfoss with 15.356 seconds. With a fourth placing in his heat, and a win in the A dash, Eliason qualified for the front row of the final. Eliason again led from the restart, ahead of Courtney, Inglis, Williamson and Daniel Harding in the Harding Racing Adragroup/Cowara Contractors car. With the final round at Perth’s Motorplex on Jan. 21, Eliason leads the series with 892 points, 32 points ahead of Courtney.
