Sweden’s Mattias Ekstrom has taken the TQ (top qualifier) position at the Logitech G FIA World RX of Catalunya, round eight of the 2020 FIA World Rallycross Championship today and will start on pole position in semi-final one at the Circuit de Barcelona-Catalunya this afternoon. Bakkerud’s Q3 result lifted him to P2 in the Intermediate Classification and he will start on pole position in semi-final two, joined on the grid by his 2019 World RX Drivers’ title rival, Sweden’s Timmy Hansen. For the first time in 2020, World RX Drivers’ standings leader Johan Kristoffersson, from Sweden, won’t start from the front row in the semi-finals. He took a best time of P4 in Q2 and was P5 in the Intermediate Classification. Kristoffersson Motorsport’s driver will start from P3 in semi-final one, with KYB Team JC’s Robin Larsson, from Sweden, alongside. He will start next to GRX Taneco’s Niclas Gronholm, from Finland, on row two of semi-final two.
