Eddie Irvine: Fighting Ayrton Senna and matching Michael Schumacher

While most rookies would want to keep their heads down and stay out of trouble on their Formula 1 debut, Irvine ended up on the end of a punch from, at the time, the most famous driver in the sport, triple world champion Ayrton Senna after coming to blows with the Brazilian on track.
“The Schumacher part sucked because if I had any other team-mate it would have been quite good for me,” Ayrton Senna jokes, “I think apart from Schumacher, there weren’t many people out there who were better than me.
Ayrton Senna: “Schumacher was just another world.”
their: “They know Michael is coming back for next year, and Michael is the superstar, so it made total sense.”
