Daniel Ricciardo makes emotional exit from McLaren after admitting he might have starred in an F1 grand prix for the last time – as Aussie reveals details about his plans for next year

Daniel Ricciardo made an emotional exit from McLaren at the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix in what in what could be his last race in Formula 1, as the Aussie revealed more details about his plan for next year. ‘When you’ve been racing with a team, you’re connected for life,’ Ricciardo wrote. ‘Sure, you switch teams, you move on, you change, but those connections you make are forever, whether it be with the mechanics, the engineers or any other team members I’ve worked with. ‘These people have poured everything in over this two-year period, and I won’t ever lose the connections I’ve made here. Vettel and Ricciardo are very good friends, and the pair embraced after the race was over. ‘I tried not to get too emotional,’ Ricciardo said afterwards. ‘It’s not a sure thing – maybe it is, maybe it isn’t (my last race) – and there’s still a race to happen. ‘If it is though, I’m not going to be at 24 races,’ Ricciardo added.
