Daniel Ricciardo insists Lando Norris is NOT receiving preferential treatment after McLaren gave the young gun the upper hand ahead of Singapore GP

Daniel Ricciardo has dismissed claims McLaren are affording Lando Norris preferential treatment, despite missing out on the latest engine upgrade. While Norris has received an upgrade package for the Singapore Grand Prix this weekend, Ricciardo will have to wait until next week’s Japanese GP to receive the same components. The 33-year-old, however, sought to quash speculations McLaren were prioritising Norris over him and said the upgrades were designed with next season in mind. ‘Obviously he [Norris] is here next year, I’m not,’ he said. ‘So for him to get another weekend to give the team feedback and obviously direction for next year, that’s ultimately the reason [for getting the upgrade]. And ahead of the Singapore GP, he conceded McLaren’s decision to hand Norris the upgrade package this weekend had been taken with next season in mind,.
