NASCAR Cup Series driver Cody Ware is facing a felony charge following an investigation by the Iredell County (N.C.) Sheriff’s Office. Ware, who drives for his father’s Rick Ware Racing team, was arrested Monday and charged with felony assault by strangulation inflicting serious injury and misdemeanor assault on a female. On Saturday, Rick Ware Racing announced that Ware would miss Sunday’s Cup Series race at Bristol (Tenn.) Motor Speedway due to a “personal matter.”. Ware is in the midst of his third full-time season in the Cup Series.
