Christian Horner laments Red Bull’s ‘worst nightmare’ after BOTH Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez were forced into retirement in the last three laps of Bahrain opener… but he insists team will be ‘back stronger’ next week as F1 heads to Saudi Arabia

Red Bull team principal Christian Horner has labelled a disastrous first race of the season as his team’s ‘worst nightmare’ after both Max Verstappen and Sergio Perez failed to finish in Bahrain. Red Bull still had Perez going for points in P3, but on the final lap of the race he too spun into retirement with a terminal issue, leaving the team point-less after the first race of the 2022 season. We need to get on top of the issue and come back next weekend.’. It was an incredible weekend for Ferrari, who finished the race with a 1-2, and they look to be back challenging at the front of the grid after two difficult years in the midfield. ‘It’s an incredibly long season with 22 races remaining, so we need to get on top of whatever this issue was today and come back stronger next weekend.
