To do so in Brazil seems a big ask given Ferrari’s pace of late, with Mercedes needing to outscore the Italians by 20 points.
“They are on the more robust tyre for the race and they have a disadvantage at the start but a big advantage over the first 10 or 15 laps, which in our models show them as the favourite to win,” he said.
