Valtteri Bottas headed both practice sessions on Friday at the Circuit de Catalunya, leading a Mercedes one-two in the afternoon.
Lewis Hamilton was less than five hundredths of a second off Bottas’s pace as the pair led the field in a quiet afternoon session at the Circuit de Catalunya.
Track conditions were slightly warmer than in first practice, rising to 42C, and lap times fell by six-tenths of a second.
Charles Leclerc was three-tenths of a second off the fastest of the Mercedes after the front-runners set their quickest times on soft compound tyres.
