Blaney Quietly Optimistic Heading To Richmond

Heading into the seventh race of the NASCAR Cup Series seasonĀ SundayĀ at Richmond (Va.) Raceway,Ā the contendingĀ drivers and teams are beginning to separate themselvesĀ from the pack. ā€œI think it will be better at Richmond than Phoenix because Phoenix is pretty fast and Richmond youā€™re going a lot slower, tires wear out a lot more, so hopefully that helps it out,ā€ Blaney said. While Richmond demands a short, technical approach compared to the higher speeds of Phoenix, Blaney believes Team Penskeā€™s short track setup is a good baseline for the season. ā€œBasing it off of Phoenix, I thought ourĀ short-trackĀ program was pretty decent,ā€ Blaney said. The 4 (Kevin Harvick) was good there at the end before the last caution, so I think itā€™s OK. Phoenix is a little bit different. ā€œHopefully,Ā we learned a little bit from Phoenix that we can apply over to Richmond and keep building on thatĀ race track.
