Bernie Ecclestone labels talk of Lewis Hamilton being robbed of world title as ‘complete and utter NONSENSE’… as former F1 supremo admits he is ‘HAPPY’ Brit lost out to Max Verstappen so Michael Schumacher’s record wasn’t broken

Bernie Ecclestone has slammed talk that Lewis Hamilton was ‘robbed’ of his eighth Formula One world title as ‘complete and utter nonsense’ after the dramatic conclusion to the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix. Yet former F1 chief Ecclestone insists race director Michael Masi should not be blamed for the race’s controversial conclusion – and pointed out Hamilton wasn’t penalised after he cut the corner following a coming-together with Verstappen on the first lap. ‘If you want to think about it carefully, on the first lap of that race he (Hamilton) went off the circuit and came back on again and Verstappen stayed on the circuit and did absolutely nothing wrong. We shouldn’t blame the race director, he did exactly what was the right thing to do.’. I personally was happy that Lewis didn’t win an eighth championship because of Michael Schumacher.
