The pace is hot, the farm lanes are excruciatingly narrow, the ditches are deep and unforgiving and the schedule is relentless – all the ingredients are there for a mouth-watering feast at Renties Ypres Rally Belgium (13 – 15 August). The quartet is repeated as dusk approaches, before late evening service brings a frenetic day to a close after 135.34km of action. Saturday’s leg is almost as compact, squeezing eight more tests covering 119.92km into a 310.37km route. Most of the action is again south of Ypres, beginning with Hollebeke (25.86km), the longest test of the rally. Dikkebus (12.49km) and Watou (13.62km) follow, before Mesen – Middelhoek (7.99km), the shortest stage of the weekend, precedes service.
