One of the most respected voices in motor sport has labelled boom Aussie rookie Oscar Piastri an ‘F1 champion in the making’. Croft said that really underscored how impressive what the Aussie has already achieved is. ‘He has come into a McLaren team at not a great time for McLaren. Croft said flourishing in the poor McLaren car last GP showed he has what it takes to be one of the top drivers on the grid. ‘I think we saw in Jeddah some real fight and some real spirit from Piastri,’ he said. ‘I have been very impressed this weekend with Oscar,’ he said on the Sky Sports coverage of the race. He has really impressed the McLaren team in the way he has knuckled down, the way he’s learnt, the way he’s adapted to the strains and stresses of being an F1 driver,’ he said.
