A rivalry ignited at Silverstone, their terrifying Monza crash, torrential rain in Belgium and Russia and THAT crucial engine change – the key moments that shaped an epic title-battle between Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen

A truly remarkable Formula One campaign has reached an enthralling crescendo, as title protagonists Lewis Hamilton and Max Verstappen head into the final race of the campaign level on points. After an extraordinary race, Hamilton revealed he had been struggling since contracting coronavirus in December 2020. In what was the shortest F1 race of all time, Verstappen was awarded 12-and-a-half points for his ‘victory’. Though surrendering his lead to Hamilton in the title race, the Brit opened up just a two-point lead, where it could have been more. Before the race in Sao Paulo, Hamilton had finished behind Verstappen in the previous three races, being in Turkey, America and Mexico. They could even win the title should one of their drivers fail to finish the race, as long as the other finished in second.
